October 10, 2006 - New service offers men legal support for botched cosmetic ops
Leading law firm TJ Legal Solicitors, which last year became the first firm to specialise in cosmetic surgery negligence, today extended its support to the increasing number of men having operations to improve their looks.
Figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) show that men account for around one in ten cosmetic surgery operations in Britain and that the number going under the knife doubled in just one year.
But, as TJ Legal has found, scores of individuals having cosmetic surgery are left with injuries, trauma and pain as a result of botched operations by surgeons and their clinics.
Since establishing its cosmetic surgery negligence team last autumn, TJ Legal has received hundreds of enquiries from women who want to make legal claims as a result of their injuries.
“People would be shocked at some of the injuries women have suffered as a result of apparent negligence by surgeons and clinics during cosmetic surgery operations,” said Mike Saul, partner, TJ Legal Solicitors.
“As the number of men having similar operations continues to soar, we recognise that they too need to be provided with expert legal support so that they can seek compensation for their injuries if things don’t go to plan.
“TJ Legal’s service is geared towards obtaining compensation to enable these men to have corrective surgery and receive financial payments to cover any loss of earnings that they might have experienced.”
Anyone who believes they have suffered from cosmetic surgery negligence has up to three years from the date of the operation or knowledge of negligence to make a claim.
