Matthew Watt, 34, a painter and decorator, was leaving the Circus Tavern nightclub in Grays, Essex when the car hit him. The accident has left him with brain damage which has severely impaired his memory.

He has been unable to work in the seven years since the accident and has been cared for by his mother.
