Damages for injured holidaymaker

01 July 2008

A pensioner injured when a hotel waiter fell and knocked her over while on holiday in Turkey has been awarded £56,000 in compensation.

Pauline Goodall, 63, broke her knee when the restaurant worker slipped on a wet marble floor and careered into her while on a trip to Marmaris three years ago.

Mrs Goodall, from Birmingham, underwent a bone fusion operation to repair the fracture in her knee while on holiday.

On her return, she received further treatment at Birmingham's Heartlands Hospital and now faces a knee replacement operation.

Her injuries have forced the grandmother to leave her job at a residential home and she now walks with a stick.

The accident had been a 'very traumatic and upsetting experience that has disrupted my life,' she said.

Mrs Goodall was in the process of suing travel Thomas Cook for compensation when they agreed to pay her £56,000 damages in an out-of-court settlement.
